UD/OD Reaction Plate Flat Replacement Retaining Ring
Flat replacement retaining ring for the beveled Chrysler UD/OD reaction plate top retaining ring.
The factory top retaining ring is a common failure point in RFE transmissions and is often found broken during disassembly. This replacement flat retaining ring is engineered to reduce the excessive tension commonly placed on the OE beveled snap ring, helping prevent breakage and improve long-term serviceability.
When replacing the original beveled retaining ring with this flat retaining ring, MPT recommends checking reaction plate rise while also verifying UD clutch clearance. This procedure is easiest when using a dedicated jig and shop air. Once installed, the UD/OD reaction plate should be held tightly in place with minimal to no fore/aft deflection.
In addition to improved durability, this flat retaining ring is significantly easier to remove than the factory beveled snap ring, making future transmission service and disassembly much simpler.
