What line pressure strategy is for me?
Line pressure is a critical component of transmission performance and durability. Because we offer multiple line pressure strategies, we want to clearly explain the intended use and advantages of each option.
Constant Line Pressure
This configuration is set to a constant 190 PSI. It is best suited for competition-only applications, such as racing and sled pulling, where maximum clutch holding capacity is required at all times. This option is not recommended for vehicles that are driven extensively on the street. Because the valve body is constantly commanding 190 PSI, the oil pump must work harder at all times, which places additional strain on the pump and related components. This configuration is intended for high-horsepower, extreme performance applications only.
Street Split Line Pressure
This configuration is calibrated to regulate line pressure at 150 PSI in 1st through 3rd gears, and 190 PSI in 4th gear and lockup. It was engineered to provide excellent clutch holding capacity while also reducing unnecessary stress on the oil pump during normal driving conditions. This strategy offers a strong balance of performance, drivability, and long-term oil pump longevity, making it the preferred choice for many high-performance street vehicles.
