Reinforced Welded Ring Gears 

In high horsepower/ high torque applications, we have found the ring gears factory spot welds to be a weak link. To ensure there is no failure, the outer diameter of the ring gears are tig welded. The end result is a much stronger ring gear. 
On all of our roller bearing setups included in stage 4 transmissions, it is our default procedure to tig weld the gear sets.

This is a very early roller bearing setup we were running in our 1000 horsepower shop truck. Obviously, the factory spot welds failed.

After a session with the tig welder and runout check, this ring gear is repaired and stronger than ever.
